Welcome to the new Rogue Courier website!
Two days ago, our website, roguecourier.com was attacked by hackers and defaced. The whole database was deleted and put between a ransomware paywall. Needless to say we wouldn’t pay anything to criminals to retrieve our data, that if, they would ever return our database. Our last database backup was too outdated and between restoring everything as it was, risking other attacks, we choose to wipe the entire server out and to reinstall/reconfigure the entire structure from scratch.
While I still have no idea how they were able to invade our website, changing all passwords and building everything from the ground made me add in some more strict security measures, making it much harder for a future attack. I’ve worked the past two days configuring and putting everything together again for an even better experience for you all.
And before the million-dollar question: No. we haven’t lost any game data. All of our game files and assets are stored in multiple different backups. Both locally and online. The only thing really was lost is the backlog of updates and blog posts. However, it can still be reachable by the archive.org (Maybe one day I can try and summarize all of it), but even though it’s years of updates, we realized the most important thing for patrons and everyone that appreciate our work is having working links for the Rogue Courier game and the High FPS scenes.
After all, this was just an inconvenience that made me delay a few days of work as I was working on the Android build (It’s coming! don’t worry!).
